Ok, I'll give that a shot too. About time to get a new soldering iron anyway. And since I bought a 2.4 GHz transmitter and Rx recently, I might as well try it. Got nothing to lose at this point.

      Good man!

If need be, I'll spoon-feed you during the process. And here's the nice part: 2.4gHz receivers are so dirt cheap now you can use them as training aids! The antenna swap to a length of coax is not as hard a task as you suppose.

Many newer 2.4 Rx's use an ipx connector for the antenna(s). In that case, no soldering required but you would need a length of cable with the connector on it.

The yellow lead plugs into the rudder channel so you have differential control over the motors. If you don't connect it both motors will run synchronously.

Oh wow, that's nifty! Got a source/link for that ESC?

I also like the fact that it is only one ESC, saves space in the cramped SD.

You guys showed me several paths to a solution. I'm going to pursue all of them. Getting this solved is crucial for my next two projects so thank you very much to all of you. Great community!

Received them this weekend: Oddly enough they sell them in a pack of three. Of the three one worked for about a minute. Didn't die but after I turned it off and on again, it was as dead as the other two. All three don't initialize on power up. No idea why. Bummer.

Swapped the Rx for another one and now magically it works! Yeah!
