    Capt Hodges.....HOLD ON THAT PRIMER!!!!

    ...on your TRESHER!!

It occurred to me AFTER the meeting yesterday, if it's still possible, you may want to give all those ABS+ parts an Acetone Vapor Bath first.

1-It will smooth it out. aka less finish work

2- It will greatly strengthen the parts. The vapor gets between the filaments and fuses them.

I vapor bath ALL my ABS+ parts when feasible.

You may be past the point of the hull if you joined the individual pieces already, but consider trying one section or so in the future to see if it's worth it.

    I time it 15-18 minutes.

But it's OK. It will require minimal fill and sanding work as it is and the primer locks it all together as well. I have never tried the acetone bath thing so I may have to give it a try on a smaller part.

Is that a coffee filter that you soak in Acetone and then hold to the cover with magnets?

Very nice. I’m jealous at the talent.

          Shout out to "SUB" Ed!

I love that linear servo adapter you designed for 3D printing! Ordered my files yesterday! I will be using them on the Futaba 3004 servos that are going to be used on my Russian Alfa's!

          Thanks Ed!

No, just a paper towel, that's what's soaked with acetone.

If I'm not mistaken, Steve was using ABS Plus, which is actually a completely different formulation than traditional ABS, and is typically far less soluble in acetone (depending on which brand he's using). I've tried using acetone to smooth an ABS+ part and it didn't work worth spit...

                Bob,

I use ABS +. 18 minute "Soak time" seems to work for me.

Ed, definitely missed seeing you at Subfest this year. I hope your move has gone well.

                    Thanks Steve!

In the end, it definitely was the right move. Both personally and professionally.

While it is tough at the moment finding a good place to run, as most of what I Google for around here is Fast Electric/Gas racing. A Scale ship search revealed RC War Ship Combat (no thanks!).

Feels like how I started in the late 80's before I met future members of the SC.

Professionally, working for Lockheed Martin again allows me to serve, once again. Knowing Boots on the Ground, Wings in the Air, and Ships at Sea will benefit from our work, makes it all worth it.

No worries, I always drift in with the tide!

For the record, Thanks to Capt. O'Connell, I have been introduced to the North Texas Shipwrights. An eclectic group of scale modelers (sail to Fast Electric) which is perfect for me.
