excelant work on the boat, I must say. The only thing is , with the "T" plackard up, while the guys are, geladen der rhor, dont you think there would be nict shizen, over the side as well. Especially without the running water. I think the cook, in the picture didnt have much of a choice, since the head by the galley, was most likely secured for food storage. LOL

Note this picture. This reportably was the first officer painting a pig on his boat as a mascot. This fellow , reportably is none other than Lothar Gunther buckheim, the well known author of the book "Das Boot". Its also said that this is U995 the famous museum ship that I have posted many pictures of.Last edited by greenman407; 10-01-2012, 12:34 PM.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Mark,
Nice pics, the first pic shows probably U96, nice scene, the guy hanging from the rope, U995 had a wooden deck straight from the shipyard not a early steel one, the tower is also a early type, i could be replaced later on by the Turm umbau type IV late 40's, we'll never know
My best guess stays U96.
Last picture of that fast running Uboat, it could be U995, but i see some difference in the forward railing near the tower, that railing should be shorter and without the hump on top of it.
The dolpin nose cover for the magnetic compass was intially present on the U995, but later on replaced by the vin shaped Askania housing, the biggest problem with right identification is all the modifications they did on the boats, for me it makes it difficult to identify the right one, love the picture anyway.
Maybe you know this link, but this guy has collected a lot of pictures right from the first U numbers, http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=149950

These Walter V80 pictures are poor but somewhat useful for identification.
