Looks like a great book and a CD to go with it. I especially like the part about having documented the information on all the resupply missions. All but one of the 10 built were sunk within a few months in 43 except for the last one that was scuttled late in the war. There were, However several raiders that re supplied boats as well as aircraft thruout the rest of the war.

The picture of U 123 with the "wound" badge is When Hardigan took over the boat. That particular shot was taken on June 8th 41 on their way out for a 5 day shake down and familiarity run. Also was it a Joey Goebbels propaganda foto op. cruise. Hense, the clear picture and squared away boat, with flowers on the con. The badge was awarded to the boat from the previous patrol engagement, where the tower was destroyed in a collision and a crewman mortilly wounded. The previouse captain of 123 was Kvtkpt Moehle had just been promoted to kommand of u boat pens in Kiel for sinking 6 ships in a convoy on that patrol. Hardigan got a nicer boat in the deal after beating up his old type VII, U147, that he had great success with. He had to take a test drive around the block before he took command of the IXc. They left two days after Christmas 41 for "drumbeat". NYC Easern seaboard and Florida. He made a couple trips over, thru the summer of 42. Had quit a bit of success. Rienhard Hardigan turns 100 this year and is still kickin. Sure would love to have a face to face with him.

I just found a u tube video of the movie that they made on U 123. The movie was called "U Boats Westwards" Its around 45 min long and in German. Mostly drama and a few set shots but plenty of good pictures of actual U boats, mostly 123
