Kazan, I believe, above with Uniform to the right and below an overhead shot. Any takers for the other 2 subs in the picture?

Its kinda hard to tell , even after blowing up the picture but the one toward the top of the picture is mostly hidden but the tail is similar to an Oscar. The other one looks to be a Delta. Nice stuff to be sure.

Oh and forgot this one, Typhoons do have some shifting power when it comes to surfacing under ice.

Apparently they have gone with the original reactor scoops used on the earlier Akulas (left) as opposed to the newer ones on the right.

Can anyone shed light on what she is doing here, there appears to be no bow wave so she isn't moving all that quickly and she isn't surfacing because of the snow on her back? Anyone? Dave?

Drydock normal Akula. An extra pic for luck. Season of giving and all that.

                      Hi Peter,

I'm really late to the party with this, but those shots you posted of the Sierra with the bow-planes half extended are pure gold. For a long time have I been looking for evidence of how those cover doors opened up, those shots give me enough detail of the basic design to come up with a plausible design for how the doors on the OSCAR work. (The bowplanes on my OSCAR are the only mechanic on the hull that has no cover door - but not for much longer!) Thanks!

I have other pictures of a Akula anchored somewhat offshore, therefore no bow wave. Perhaps that is the case with this one. Sometimes the anchor lines are not readily visible.

Mark, yep I will go along with that it just looked odd.

Kevin, glad it helps. I must admit I knew that they were pretty special judging by how hard I hit my right mouse key to save them.

She just came out of a deep swell. Either dead in the water or spinging off the hook.
