May 5, 1940 exploded a mine and suffered major damage. After surfacing came under air attack. Was captuted and towed to Frederickshaven, Denmark. Crew was captured. Repairs were tried in 1943 but it was abandoned.
It looks like Germans inspecting it based on the uniforms. There are shell holes in the side by one guy and there appears to be shell holes by the 2 guys by the aft part of the conning tower.

Good closeup of an Akula sail. Look at those huge Limber holes or whatever they all are. I like the little door at the front of the sail on the Akula.

Wow, we live close. I live in Clearwater. We meet at Devils Den a couple times a year in Williston, not too far from Ocala.
