The Triton that I was referring to and posted the picture on was the Nuclear powered Triton. The only twin nuclear powered boat the US made.

Was the triton found and raised? It went missing in 1940, and thats a nice color picture of a "T" boat. That's another WWII sub sinks sub story there, trigger happy skipper sinks his wing man, faux pas. Evidently the Captain of the Triton mistook the HMS Oxley another RN T-sub running a few miles abeam on the surface and sent a couple visual signals, with no response. Intel on u boats operating in the area had been given, so he assumed it was german and torpedoed and sunk it. They covered up the real story till around 1950 when all the documents and testimony was declassified. At least thats what there saying now. The thing is, I have been privy to a couple historicle events in the early 60s, with first hand experience. The way its told in the "history books" or social media now days isnt exactly what actually happened. Sometimes the event has been embelished and dramatised, or on the other hand, covered up completly. Sometimes even some of each. Actual WWII incidents are still being exposed all the time, now that the old guys are giving up the ghosts before they check out with a clear consious.

I believe that the sizes are correct, in relation to each other. Look at how small the sail is on the Thresher/Permit class. The "Barber" class mentioned is really the "Barbel" class. Looks pretty close as the Barbel was 219'6" Long with a beam of 29' The Skipjack was 251.7' long with a beam of 31.5'.Click image for larger version
