Can anyone explain why the periscopes in modern nuclear boats are situated athwartships and not fore and aft as in conventional boats? This has often puzzled me. I am sure there is a reason but, it escapes me.

The real U 172 was a IXC turm II, Had one single 105mm forward two 2cm flak zwiling on the upper wintergarden and a 2cm quad flakvierling on the lower. No 3.7cm gun on the aft deck. It was a real successful boat {sank 25 ships} Had a colorful carrear, It was sank in 44 with about 30some survivors. Quite possible some movie made of one of the stories using the Argonaut for a prop

It appears there has been some discrepancy in communication between the Navigation officer and the Skipper, and he better get ahold of manuvering and go All back full!! shortly before they head north on Southberry street. It looks as tho they realise the crash always starts in the front, because everybody is gathering aft on the bridge

That's the RN lost in the Somerset Levels, which have had an inordinate amount of rain for the last six weeks.

Bingo! Sorry, I should know better. I'll bet that was too easy for this crowd. I'm fascinated with that boat and it's twin 6 inch guns, four torpedo tubes and dual 40 inch mine launchers. It looks like a great boat to model if I can find hull line drawings.

When the septic tank backs up, sometimes it takes a bit of hunting around to find the "clean-out" hatch!

I would guess the cone part is secured first. With sheets, (bungee cord} pulled taught from the front, on the inside of the cover and then secured to the boat. Then, when the front section ils lashed on, it pulls the rest of the cover forward, leaving the cone part snug to the hub. I wonder if it is tight as a drum and would boom if ya smacked it
