More pictures on actual progress. I must say that the instructions are a real time saver. Just read them carefully.

The parts are the same. The instructions are just pinted in black and white not near as nice as the Moebius ones with color pictures.

Thats interesting that Moebius is in collusion with Revell. Maybe its the same as a Acura is really a Honda, just with a fancier name.

David should know the whole story? It could be the Moebius brand is only sold in the States? I asked my supplier here and he had never heard of Moebius.

Stand By For Action!! I bet you guys are getting tired of hearing that. I just ordered the foam and weight kit for this thing from Caswells. Well take a look at it when I get it. Attaching foam and weight is a good deal of trial and error. Its nice to have someone figure it out for me, and supply the materials, every once in a while.

Got a start on this today. Following Daves advise(I knew it already),to fill in the extra mast locations that I wouldnt be using. Looking at the supplied Masts, I believe that Im going to use the Search periscope and the attack periscope. Therefore all the other holes must go.

                  Aren't those instructions simply beautiful!

Bob Plant is the creative genius behind these and most of the other post-SEAVIEW instruction copy and art-work, Mark. He's perfectly captured the form, look, and writing style of plastic model kits from the Golden era (1960-1980).

Other than the sale of SKIPJACK kits to Germany (the Revell of Germany turn-around), it seems that these kits are not selling at the rate anticipated -- and that does not speak well for the possibility of any follow on, 'Cold War Era Submarine' kits from this brave and innovative kit producer. I want to thank Frank Winspur and David Metzner for taking the chance and steering and backing this kit from inception to delivery. We all gave it one hell of a try.

Here's to waiting to see what Revell of Germany does with their upcoming 1/72 Type-9.

Its a start. If you look at the pictures Dave posted on page 8, about the middle of the page of this thread, youll see that he makes it look way too easy.

Dave, on page 10 of this thread you posted some pictures of your painting a couple of Skipjacks. In a couple of shots you used a mesh screen to leave a cross hatched pattern in the paint. Is this scale or is it a way to accentuate the sonar area when looking from a distance?

The geodetic pattern of the GRP sonar window, sagging onto the truss-work beneath it, revealed this pattern under the hot mid-day sun. I simply represented the shadow throw of the geodetic arranged underlying support truss as indicated in those pictures -- not scale, but close to the real thing. You anal-retentive so-and-so, you!
