Update: The hull work is now basically done aside from some small detail work. The missile deck is attached and the fairwater planes and sail are installed. I designed and 3D printed some spacer rings to spread the hull in the hatch area as PVC pipe contains some serious stresses that are relieved if a section is removed like I did. The walls bowed in along the length of the hatch as a result. The spacers corrected the issue. The spacers also have a lip that allowed another small bracket I designed and printed to catch the lip and slide forward about 3/8" thus locking the hatch down snug. The best part is that no tools are required to secure it. Essentially the hull is now ready for finish work but the next step is fitting all of the running gear. It has really turned out good so far. I do still need to do some blending of the forward missile deck to the hull and there will be some minor trim work and filling to do but it does look like an Ohio.

You're underwater at periscope depth and your sail hits a boat. The superstructure pops off the hull. Bad ju-ju!

It wouldn't kill you to put a retaining screw up forward to prevent inadvertent separation of the superstructure from the hull proper.

        So there! Another *****!

I was planning to secure the sail better. ;o) Forward missile deck transition is now blended to the hull.

                    Ditto what Bob said!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Paint going on. Anti-fouling first. I used Vallejo 71.084 Fire Red. Tomorrow black will go on the top half.

That turned out well. Now to add a scum line and some grunge.

Well, the prop is called a screw.....just saying.
It is amazing how the paint transforms a model. It is looking more and more awesome.

Yes. I have heard Mr. David Meriman refer to it as a wheel on many occasions too.
