This build started out as a holiday filler while I waited for other things to arrive (here at the end of the earth). Its taken a back seat to a prolonged bout of grand-child induced mega death flu. (Seriously, those little buggers are like a mobile petry dish of germs). Back to the shed today to sort out the very flat, very wide walkways on this thing and to get the bow turned up.

To make the walkways I laid some brass strip on top of the rear deck and slathered bondo on to the sides of it. Remove brass strip, sand down bondo (a abit) and there you have it; walkways.

Well done on the deck, Scott. I was wondering how you were going to address the top of the deck. And sorry I had to bow out of the bow (get it!?) work -- too many production jobs started to pile up on me. Watching your progress with great interest. What a beautiful job you've done with the sail.

And when do you lay down the veins..... … er ….…. safety tracks on this thing? Pink bow -- could you possibly make this thing more phallic?!…..

You settled on a source for the propellers? I can jump in on those anytime, pal. And how about we articulate the bow planes?

I do not think you understand how much I need this old clanker in my life.

Seriously though, fantastic work bringing this to life. I will eagerly volunteer myself to order and build one as soon as they are available.

Articulated bow planes? Who's venturing into sub porn now! The props are 25mm diameter six blades with a conical hub, and your expertese is ALWAYS appreciated. If you have the time to do them that would be great.

I avoided taking a photograph from the front of the sub due to the fact that the live centre on the lathe left a small hole right in the centre. I'm sure you get the imagery. Not the sort of thing that we wish to see in a high-brow operation like this.

If I ever get finished Brady, I'll inflict one of these things on you.

You have got yourself a deal, sir. In the meantime I will continue to watch & learn with great interest.

Didn’t the November use a set of horizontally split doors that opened to allow extension of the bow planes, and then closed around the shaft of the planes once they were extended? I would be curious to see you tackle that, Mr. Wizard.

Oh, God! I must do a context check before hitting that 'enter' button.

                    Anyway ….

I did a set of like propellers for that abortive 1/72 FOXTROT kit. All I have to do is scale the working drawings to 1/96 and I'm at it, Scott. Here's the work I did on the 1/72 wheels:

Those props look great. There is no diffuser on the prop boss on the November; just a conical end cap as far as I can see. (I'd quite like one of those diffusers for the Kilo however.)

Adding bits to the beast. This is the rough block that will eventually become the lower sonar housing.

The model looks grear but i believe the bow beeing slightly too blunt.should be a little more pointed imo

You are exactly right. I cut a template out yesterday to check it against my plans and discovered the same thing. Its asymetric! Quite fat in plan eleveation and slightly more tapered in elevation. I'm going to attack it with a belt sander later on today.
