Making slow progress due to the heat here. Today was milder and so I have fitted the SD and faired the waterline hull junction.

ID:	119629 There was slight breeze through the shed today that took the temperature to a reasonably comfortable level. Hurrah! So today I fitted the fore planes, finished correcting the horizontal hull split, cast an anchor and primed everything. Thus:

Nothing like the tail boom of your chopper to hang a Romeo from...

Apparently its going to be hot here for ever - no more winters, just flaming hot weather. Its a lazy 43 C in the shed today but with the forcast stuck on "Scorchio" there was no choice other than to get in there and do it to it. Therefore; the rudder mechanism is finished. This is made up of some old servo gears, some brass rod and a bit of scrap steel. Click image for larger version

Thanks. Not too many other options given the narrowness of the arse end. I thought about printing off a set of gears but the possibility of you leaping out of my computer persuaded me to do it by hand!

So, you whimped out of using a 3D printer because you were worried about the wrath of HWSNBN? You have not lived until you have been through a butt chewing from David! I wear a size smaller pants because of him. Then again you are not making dumb decisions like I have made.
This gear train is excellent solution. You do great work sir!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Colonel Whimp - that's me. How are you getting along with your Akula Tom?

Funny you should ask..... I was working on it today. Metal glazed the outside and will wet sand it tomorrow. What color (or color) did you paint the lower portion of the hull?
I believe I have the other areas sealed, so once done with the sanding, I can put all the guts back in and test. I can't thank you enough sir!
