Hey! When you get your tooling done, I want a copy of this thing. Trade? If so, what do you want?

Thanks for the info. I've ordered some silicon rubber and I'll get busy with the parting board now. Lets see if I can get a result - then we'll talk about a trade!

Make sure the rubber you get is of the 'brushable' type (the term is a misnomer -- you actually apply this non-sag stuff with a flat stick or big putty knife). The TC-5030 is the best I've found for this application:

and you'll want some rubber thickening agent (I'm checking with BJB on that and will post what they say when I get an e-mail back from those guys).

Its a rather warm 45 degrees C in my workshop this afternoon. (That's 113 F for you trogladites who refuse to be dragged into the metric age). Not much happening as a result other than a few experiments to see how things might go. Still haven't found an acceptable way to replicate the coverings on the sonar domes.

And I have devised a plan to do the dome. I'm going to sand the bejesus out of this once it dries and see what it looks like.

I don't often fawn all over someone's project. But .... I must say: Wow! This ROMEO is a real piece of work. Well done, sir! Love the dishing between frames and stringers effect you achieved on the two domes. This attention to detail, and credible representation, is an eye catcher. Oh, yeah, you'll have to paint this one green. You know that, right?

OK, enough kissing your ass. Finish it!

If you elect to got the glove-mother mold route I'll post here a complete, sleep-inducing tutorial, complete with pretty pictures. I dare you!

I think I'm done. There could be a lot more scribing (and repairing of scribing) but its heading for overkill. Waiting for the silicon to arrive.
