    ME TOO 1/72 GATO

Ive been toying around with getting another Gato. I had one 5 or 6 years ago but I lost it in a Divorce, amongst other things. It was outfitted with a Post war Guppy sail and chin mounted sonar dome. Well tonight I ordered a new kit. This Gatos claim to fame will be that I hate the kit supplied sail. Im going to finish it as a pre-war Gato with a Wahoo type sail and degausing cables. I need to get the Subdriver for it before the 31st while its still on sale. I noticed also that Caswells got photo etch kits for it. Cool!

I married an island-girl. She assured me, in a divorce, I would loose more than my submarines. She put it this way: "You gotta sleep some time, round-eye!"

Consider yourself ahead of the game, Mark.

That and all my HO scale stuff was among the minor things that I lost. Her idea was to take all the things I like in order to hurt me the most. Happily I was able to save all the other Hobby stuff. As far as the MAJOR stuff.....................that was a tragedy of Epic proportions. I just smile and go about my life. Live and learn

Also we will be needing a fittings kit and a template for the drain holes. One question we will get answered soon enough is whether or not the snorkle valve will fit the new sail, or should I more correctly say conning tower.

Ok so these photo etched deck pieces. Do you just glue them on top or do you cut out and recess them flush?

Guess what I just got, and its not from Santa either? My Gato. The art work on the box is different but everything else seems to be as before. Same as last time, I am impressed with its large size.......52" long. I ordered the last 2.5" Subdriver in stock and itll be here in a couple of days. Come Monday, I am ordering the fittings kit, the construction DVDs, the ballast and foam kit, the photo etch kit for the deck and the drain hole templates.

Thanks Dave, extremely helpful. I printed out all of them. These, along with the DVDs will make it much easier. Aggravation prevention. Itll be well worth the effort.

The only reason I tolerate you and some of the other Bum's who frequent this board is this: YOU ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING WITH THIS STUFF. Now ... enough talk. Go forth and assemble/build something (and God forbid, be it something that guzzles oil doped hydro-carbons!).

At this very moment I am putting the finishing touches on the Type 23 lower hull so that I can get some paint on it. See.................you got yourself all worked up into a tizzie over imagined transgressions.

I'm philosophical about meeting out undeserved ass-kickings: I consider them money-in-the-bank for the times I didn't catch ya!

Today I received my 2.5" two motor Sub-Driver, designed specifically for the 1/72 Gato. It is a Gem. Heres a few pictures.
