Who's the manufacturer of this 1/72 Skipjack model?

It's a GRP kit I got from Lee Upshaw's, Scale Shipyard about fifteen years ago. Don't know if they're still available.

However, the same subject, in the same scale, will soon be available as a proper styrene kit -- stay tuned, that announcement will be official in a few weeks. Caswell-Merriman already has worked up a SD for it and will have worked out an r/c conversion kit shortly after we get in a test shot.

Wonder why they decided to have a nuke boat modeled in such a big scale? Not like pre-nuke boats with their cluttered decks and hull openings nukes have a rather bland appearance.

Would you know if this model kit has internal detailing like the reactor, torpedo stations included?

They based subject type on my recommendation and we'll see if I guessed right or not as these things hit the shelves. I initially pitched them 1/96 scale -- they figured bigger would be better, much to my joy.

          No internal detailing.

When i first saw the Skipjack's, its kind of so so, but when you take a step back, 1/72 scale is great because it's a relatively small nuke. then that big sail is gives great viz when running with the sail showing. All makes a lot of sense, make nice pairing with my Thresher, if you know what i mean
Next time someone points out it takes 42 muscles to frown, point out it will only take 4 muscles to b1tch slap them if they tell you how mnay muscles you need to smile:pop

Can you give a ball park figure how much it'll cost?

                  Between $1 - $1,000,000.00

Mike will do his best, as a retailer, to secure a reasonable discount, that's all I know for sure. Don't sweat it. If pricing is too much of a problem here, then I will suggest to you that you're in the wrong hobby!

Slow worker here, let me finish the Type VII, the M1, then get Foxtrot. If i feel like a simple job meantime i might ask production to re schedule :)

A great boat and a great video.

I am curious about the location your running in in the video. Is that a strong wind effect on the surface, or is what we are seeing the action of a swift tide?

Well! That's the last we see of HIM for a while! ( He hasn't had it 5 minutes and already he's drawing on it and stuff!)

Think European modellers will like to build it as a dry hull, and with the hull sections divided like that, it's spot on for a bayonet seal, but will the styrene hull be robust enough? Could always line it with epoxy inside I guess, or fit a tube.

That prop looks funny with the boss separate from the blades, what's the reasoning behind that?
