It is a work of art. If anyone has this mechanical setup and does not want it, I do!
    Peace,
    Tom
    Tom,

That launcher truly is a work of art as is such with so many other things David has created. I wonder how many of these units he built for the US Fleet Subs.

    Nick

P.S. The bow plane mechanism is a work of art too in this scale!

Scott-if you engineer the revolver method of launch-would you be shooting only one torpedo from one tube?

Thanks for the explanation of the operation. I mentioned using water to expel the torpedo.
I was thinking of using a revolving valve to port water behind the fish from a water pump.
I will try and CAD it up and see what you think. Your door actuator is helping me understand
a way to open the doors.

So the lower door requires just a bit more travel from the pneumatic piston to fully open before the launch occurs. What I like about this design is that increased travel is easily programmed in to the profile of the launch ram that actuates the door. The travel of the ram is the same as the upper door for the most part but the effect it has on the door travel can be adjusted by the height of the lift designed into the ram. This is all well before the launch poppet valve is triggered

    Scott,

Thank you. The pneumatic cylinders I’m using for the door actuators are made by Clippard. The part number is sm-6. If I recall it has a .250” bore and a .375” stroke. Through Physical testing in hand, the stroke actually works out to .356”. The poppet valves I’m using are also made by Clippard. Part number mav-2c. Hope that helps

Are you using any part of HWSNBN`s 1/72 launcher design?
If so can you explain what and how?
    Thanks again

    Thanks George,

As far as I am aware of this launcher design is a bit different than the launchers David has built but I haven’t been around enough to know each and every design that he has crafted. He has built many. David would have the best eye for pointing that out if it shared any similarities. The parts that I know of that it will be using later which are the same as David’s are the miniature gas solenoid valves and the TCP unit to control them.

Now that each part of the assembly has been tested, I can move on to building what I had designed for the starboard side launch tubes. The port side is the mirror opposite of this. I have most of the parts already completed just need to make a couple more small bits. Maybe later this week depending on how busy things are at work this week.

    Redboat219,

Yup, you found them. How awesome are those mechanisms!!! Super clean craftsmanship!

    George,

I noticed that something went wrong with the attached photos too. I usually post from my phone but for some reason that day the forum software was hell bent on making it difficult. I gave up and finished the post on the computer which finally let me attach the photos. The next day they were no longer showing up.

I’ll try to post them again here.

ID:	144356 Here you go. Found it in your 1/48 G7 thread. I guess you could go electronically using an arduino to initiate launch sequences.
