    help with ESC issue

Hoping someone can enlighten me what's going on, I don't get what's happening. Yesterday put the drive with an older WTC setup using a HOT RC DS-600 (cheap 6 channel radio) - bare minimum radio, speed controller and battery in the WTC. Today I finished wiring up the new guts to a newer version WTC using FRSKY tandem radio. I put it in the water turn on the remote power hear the beep bop and the rudder shifts left and right but the throttle rrrr rrr then nothing sounds like it wants to start but then nothing then beep bop tones again and again and again like its resetting itself??? pull it out of the water and give it a second and it runs (up to a point won't take full throttle. get it started in air and then dump in the water and it runs - didn't have any issues yesterday? FYI brushless motor in the wet. I'm running FLASH HOBBY D2830 1000KV Brushless Motor with a 30A bidirectional ESC.The motor is basically the hub of the prop.

Is the ESC one of those generic blue label, black heatshrink Bidirectional ESCs from Amazon? I had one in my Skipjack and encountered intermittent throttle cutting. I don't recommend using them since they seem to have a high failure rate.

If it keeps re-arming itself it could be a low battery or an intermittent battery connection. Use a servo tester to eliminate the possibility of the radio causing the problem.

If it keeps re-arming itself it could be a low battery or an intermittent battery connection. It had a freshly charged battery. i never would have thought to use a servo tester here... thanks!

Something i forgot to mention in the original post was the first day when it was working was the ESC was running HOT, so hot i could feel warmth thru the WTC. kind of related - prior to this had tested a bunch of drive configurations - props with interesting results. Dependent on number of blades and pitch found that with enough drag/resistance some props worked fine in the air but stall (esc stutters and screams) and will not run in water. my initial though of why the ESC was getting so hot was too much drag on the prop - change the pitch or number of blades or both to improve reliability and thrust.

Look up the brand Rw.RC, I have been using their bidirectional ESCs with great success. These have a yellow heatshrink with a black label.

Update - taking some advice did a couple things, first used servo tester to control ESC the el cheapo ESC still has issues, will run - kinda, sputters and spurts and has a very particular sweet spot, guessing its toast. Next replaced the ESC with another one I had (not bidirectional) and it followed the servo tester as I cranked it up the prop followed - to the point it was starting to push the thing across the bench!!! so need to find a reliable bidirectional ESC.

I looked up Rw.RC and it's an Ali Express deal buying five different amperages as a bundle? - is there another source (in the US) that I'm missing? it also looks like this is plumbed for water cooling - is anyone using this, does it really work? I'd rather not have to deal with more ports (potential leaks).
