Cut the wires, move the board down a little bit where it doesn’t interfere anymore, and solder the wire back up with wire splice, and heat shrink around each solder joint. Moving that ounce of weight is not gonna matter. Do you have a soldering iron?

I can do that. I guess my bigger question is whether I even got that alignment right on my picture? It would mean the pump goes from a horizontal position to a vertical. What's also tricky are the long air connectors the pump comes with: I will end up bending them to either side, not ideal but possibly the only way to install?

I managed to disassemble the boat, remove the old pump and got the new one ready. But I'm struggling following your directions on how to install the new pump. If you have any pictures of the pump as it sits in your boat that would be helpful. I don't know which direction it is facing etc. Trying to mount it vertically but there's not enough room as it bumps against the board of the servo connectors.

You are almost there. Slide the two 3D parts on the three treaded rods at the same time. Also you need to replace the stock tubing and get rid of the tube fittings. Use one piece of tube to go from the TEE through the pump and out the stern.

Having messed with a couple of these, so I can tell you you’re right. The right length of that tube is essential for getting it back together. Most of the time that old tubing is cracked and hard.

Thanks for the link. Finding the tubing seems easy on Amazon. But I'm having a hard time finding the connectors and the tie downs or whatever one uses to make them stick.

Yes, as you observed, there is no room for fittings. As regular maintenance, you will be replacing that tube periodically. Always test the ballast system before driving the boat in lake or pool.

Yes.

English is my second language so I often struggle finding the right word for stuff like that. Which makes searching for it on amazon equally difficult.

That said I noticed on the Amazon page you linked there are a bunch of the connectors and Y linkages listed when scrolling down.
