Anybody tried using 2.4ghz with a towed buoy?

Many have talked about it, but no one has implemented it that I'm aware of. I can't see the advantage, personally. Towing a cable affects the performance of the boat and would be exceptionally prone to fouling by your own prop and other craft in the vicinity. On the plus size, I guess you'd have a floating emergency buoy in case of catastrophic flooding...
To each their own. If it sounds good to you, make it happen!

It's an ugly, cumbersome, awkward, useless arrangement to get signal to/from your boat.
If it ain't broke, DON'T FIX IT!!!
God put masts atop the damned things sail for a very good reason. Use them! That's where your data-link antenna goes. Not on some loathsome, ugly fishing bobber trailing a nasty piece of coaxial cable!
The only tow I'll ever use is to get pretty pictures.
