If you look into it more, you'll see that Tonijin was originally considered a Potvis class sub, probably because the Potvis and Tonijin were built at the same yard. Over time, the four near sisters (the other was Zeehond which followed Dolfijn and was built at the same yard as Dolfijn) became so similar, that all four were considered the same class.
By the way, Potvis is a Sperm Whale, Tonijin is a tuna, Zeehond is a seal, and Dolfijn likely needs no explanation.
The Dutch are, by my experience, very competent mariners. It will be interesting to see where their sub force is headed. Like most maritime nations, they like to build their own kit. But shipyards are closing all over Europe and I'm not sure the Dutch have a yard that's still in business that's ever built a sub. Their current Dutch subs are much evolved versions of the last US open ocean diesels (the Barbels). These will wear out eventually. Will be interesting to see what the Dutch decide to do...

Don't identify the sub, but the appearance of the fellow is simply... no words.

Morning ya bilge rats. I need your help. Look please, at these two pictures and give me a hint or two about what boats they are on. I know for a fact that they are American and almost certainly decommisioned by now.

Both wheels are associated with the S5W plant -- these are the skew-back types that replaced the traditional looking 5-blade units seen on early boats employing that plant.

The one to the right is an SSBN (upper rudder on the stand-off vertical stabilizer is the give-away there). The shot to the left is either an SSBN or STURGEON class (the vertical stabilizers at the ends of the horizontal stabilizers -- later 616 and 640 class boats had stub stabilizers, STURGEONS had bigger ones) is the clue there.

The one on the left was originally off the USS Barb site. The Barb was the only boat of the Permit class to have those stabilizers as a precursor tryout for the Sturgeons. For some further reference, my attached photo here has BARB at the second from the right on the right bottom of the page. She has vertical stabilizers and you can tell she is a Permit by the positioning of the fairwaters on the smaller sail. Sitting right next to her is the Sturgeon "Sea Devil" for further comparison.
