Anyone done any work on a contra-rotating gearbox? I'm thinking of doing a Japanese Type A midget (having just had a detailed look at one in the Australian War Memorial, Canberra). The anniversary of the sub attack on Sydney harbour is coming up and it seems like a good subject.

Who is John Galt? -
Mark Greenman has contra-rotating props in his Albacore. Check out his build here http://forum.sub-driver.com/showthre...core-continued
Or contact him.If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.Comment

At the moment its a pile of junk on the work bench! I'm thinking of running three channels in it. Rudder, ESC and ballast but its very early yet and I only have a limited number of fingers to bash with the hammer. With any luck there will be enough space to fit in some sort of rudimentary syringe system that will allow it to ballast down to periscope depth and back up to normal surface trim.Comment
