Udate on work inside the cave

It has been some time, but i need to give you guys a update on what's going on, lost my loyal hairy CO after 17 years of sevice, unfortunally that's live, but she left a hole in my life.

Done some mayor things on the type XVIIb, took the effort to loose some weight on the upperdeck by griding her down, made some modifications on the float valves to make this construction lighter, changed the mechanism to steer the strange frontwing and the locking mechanism of the upperdeck, pretty much the same story on reducing weight above the waterline.
Also made some changes on the deck which holds the lexan hatches, there was a tendency to keep water on this deck, so the boat sat lower on the waterline after a dive, removed as well at the front and the back the obstructions to discharge the water.

Took the V80 apart to hunt down some leaks, re-glued the complete frontpart and made some changes in the wiring, not a lot of work but getting things out goes quick, rebuilding everything takes some more time.

Re-did the SD which i'm using for both the V60 and Ko Hyoteki, had some cracks in the SD, which where glued shut and changed some O rings, replaced the ADF for a new one and rebuilded the inside, she underwent some rigourus testing in the testpool to check everything is watertight.

Last thing i did trimming the boats, V80 is done and ready for patrols, V60 took some more lead and foam to get her right and retrimming the Ko Hyoteki, pretty much the same story, the rearpart turned out to be lighter, so removing some foam fixed that.
For now i'm fighting the XVIIb, since this a dry hull boat i have to shift some lead inside the ballasttank to get her upright, this proces has to be done step by step, adding foam will be the last step, this has to be done before the end of this month, there will be a meeting in Germany which i want to attend, the event itself will be three days, so i'm looking foward to it.

If you guys want some pics on the work i've done, just ask.

Started to build me a SD from scratch for the little Kilo sub, which is still gathering dust inside the box, i'll start a building thread on the progress sofar.

    Manfred.

        Manfred,
Whew! I totally misunderstood you. When you said CO I thought you meant your wife.

Did find it odd calling her 'hairy'.

        Still, sorry about your cat.

Manfred, I am sorry about your feline buddy passing away. They do have a way of stealing a chunk of our heart. Mine are canine, but still they are family. Always want to see what you are doing, so when you are willing, please share. Good to see a post from you.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

                          Manfred,
losing a pet is incredibly sad. I love furry animals better than most humans, as they aren’t judgmental, and always show unconditional love. I found a cat once, and in 15 years, he was by far, a great pet, that even helped raise a few dogs. My condolences, and I look forward to your future posts.
Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.
