Absolutely stellar reference photos, David. Just about every damn kind of linkage you could imagine. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing them.

How many ****ing submarine models have you built in your career? Has to be in the hundreds.

Ellie and I banged out a lot. Many 'plank-owner' models, countless industrial displays, some effects miniatures, about 150 1/96 SKIPJACK 'kits' (all built up and in primer gray, so I consider those built by us), currently 20 r/c subs in running condition today, and about 25 nearly finished subs on the wall... by bucket-list.

          A few.

Thanks for posting this in a centralized location!

I know they serve a function, but it's a shame you have to hide them inside the hull.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on an overnight drunk, and in 10 days I'm going to set out to find the shark that ate my friend and destroy it. Anyone who wants to tag along is more than welcome.

                Again, thank you David!

This post will also be hard copied and put on my desk as a TOOL for how to apply different type of linkages.

Lots of good information in those pictures.

David thank again that you share all the stuff here. Shouldn’t you write a book about these techniques?

                    regards gantu

My pleasure, Gantu. And thank you for your years of tireless assistance with information on subjects' people had problems researching; you are always there with commentary and pictures that simply are out of the mainstream. You and I -- and some others -- do our bit to advance the craft, we keepers of the flame.

I've done more than write a book, Gantu. Over the decades I've contributed to books authored by others, written many, many articles, have lectured, taught classes, took into our house the occasional understudy, participated in event panel discussions and Q&A's, and I was featured in a few TV productions dealing with the Craft.

I've done my bit. I'm old, retired, and have a bucket-list to attend to. So: no book.

However, through the very kind and thoughtful efforts of an old friend, Ward Shrake, some of my old writings have recently been unearthed and reproduced at the excellent Secrete Projects Forum site. The thread can be accessed here:

Some of the magazine articles listed there date as far back as the mid-70's. Log on and read on. Scroll down and it starts with post #806.
