    Color of U-3008

Does anyone know what US Navy color the US U-3008 would be?
This photo is when she was in Portsmouth N.H. around 1946.
I like to paint my model as close to the right color as possible.
    Thanks

Yes, I have all the photos of the USS U-2513 and the USS U-3008 but not colors, however I did just find this, so Light grey on hull and Black on decks.

Paint Color for USS Type XXI

As a result of these trials the US Navy concluded that a simple overall light gray hull and black decks provided as good visual protection as any other method. Consequently, U S submarines were painted overall light gray with black paint on the decks and on the outer surface of the ballast tanks.

this is what I found from the Nation Archives on painting our USS U-2513 and USS U-3008.
So Light Grey and Black deck it is.
      Thanks for the help.

Bill, you are correct. Test and evaluation of U-3008 was done at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

I did some sleutering regarding camoflage as I'm building an 1/72 Iowa BB turret.
Came across these sites...apperently for submarines (SS) measure (design) 3 & 9 were applied during WWII, where Measure 3=Light Gray System (as you mentioned) and Measure 9 =
                        Black System for Submarines.

Mabe it will be helpfull for others also.

This page provides information U.S. Navy Camouflage Measures 31, 32 and 33, with links to presentations on these measures' individual designs.
