The RCSubGuy's weekend field-trip to the hospital

Some lower abdominal discomfort turned into an event-filled Thursday night when my doctor called and told me to get to the emergency room.

It turns out the pain was from a badly distended appendix and there was a very real danger of rupture. Normally it's a pretty routine procedure that takes around 45 minutes via laparoscopy (a super-thin tool with fiber-optic cameras). The surgeon got in there and ended up having to do a full open surgery due to the size and shape of the offending organ, which had swollen to 2.5x its normal size.

We got home yesterday afternoon and I'm looking forward to some downtime to get healed up. Renee is doing such an amazing job of looking after me. I'm feeling pretty spoiled. Hopefully back on my feet soon!

Obviously, this will affect my ability to address orders. My apologies to everyone with an order outstanding with me. I should be back on my feet soon, and with Logan's help, we should be able to get caught up by the end of the week.

LOL. (I can only imagine what the uninitiated think when running into this thread).

Salves and soothing cooing sounds not a specialty here.

              We eat our own.

A Lyndon Johnson moment! Perhaps Bob is a bit too young for this one?

So.. continuing drama. Turns out there is a good chance that the appendix was cancerous. Doctor appointment today to discuss removing part of my colon and small intestine. My gut is going to look like the poster-child for death by 1000 cuts.

Obviously a shock to me and my family. Working through things with high hopes that they got the whole damned thing on the first extraction, but they're making double-sure with this next procedure...
