Smart-ass! I WISH I had a Disney hat!
Never did a working dive in the MK-5 dress -- but did a lot of training (bottom drops, hose stretches and flange 'projects') in it. As you well know, a lot of guys got the NIS on 'em when those hats started to disappear. I think we had the old style hats on the RECOVERY when I was on it (two tours, no less!).Leave a comment:

This is Von's version of fun and games. I was, for the most part, into salvage and ships husbandry as a hard-hat type. But, initially was a boat diver -- SCUBA only (till I found some old Jack-Brown gear aboard, and that changed everything!).
Never locked in or out of a boat.
Mand his long underwear
but Im confused as to what hat, was it the one with the light
or the crown ?
DESCO still selling the Mk IV varients. Be nice to stumble on one with their original "football" shaped WWII logo plates
the last new ones that went off the production line in 95 had an ovalLast edited by Von Hilde; 10-21-2014, 04:12 AM.Leave a comment:

I know Dave wishes he was there instead of talking to Riff-Raff types, like us Blokes! This is reported to have been taken from "Hawaii", a Virginia class boat.Leave a comment:

Single pre-swirl stator. Like the Britt's. These drawings: someone's 'best guess' or based on source material?

Here is a picture of some details to the drive of the Virginia that Dave was asking for a while back, and then a link to the page where I found it.

A question was asked a while back as to how to distinguish between the Seawolf class and the Virginia class. The easiest way is the Sail Fillet. You know, the slopey thing that eases the flow of water where the front of the sail attaches to the deck? On the Seawolf class its real tall and long. It reaches all the way up to the horn. On the Virginia, its much shorter in both directions. Note the two pictures. The first one is the Seawolf, and the second one is the Virginia. Then both full size.
