....different scheme for the kilo
Hi Folks:
It uses a RCABS cylinder with some personal mods (like the addition of a flattened brass tube inserted in the tube which connects the bladder with the Schroeder valve and allows for a far more controllable deflation and hence a much more lineal control)Also a Engel Mini APC (terrific stuff!!).A more elaborated and better isolated wire passage and a cheater Lexan rudder added to the existing one.
And yes it runs superbly.
Thank you for your interestComment

After seeing biggsgolf Kilo project I resumed work on mine.
Managed to install the clevises for the rudder and stern planes in the tight confines of the KILO'S tail. Still have to test moving them with the SD installed.
Moving the control rods by hand I noted how much the clevis were able to move before hitting something and how much of the control surfaces deflected.
As noted by HWSNBN, optimum angle is about 30-35°. Anything more and they act as speed brakes.
Finding the angles of the stern planes was easy just use a protractor. Unfortunately I misplaced mine so I resorted to those online apps like this one.
You take a photo of the angle you want to measure and overlay their virtual protractor on it. Clicking Download saves a photo of the item withe the protractor.

Been busy lately. Some work on the bow plane control.
Used a 1/16" dia. aluminum rod.
Bit sloppy as I didn't fully tighten the set screw.2 PhotosMake it simple, make strong, make it work!Comment
