    Skipjack 1/72

As If I needed another project, I just ordered from Caswell the new Moebius 1/72 Skipjack. I just couldnt help myself. When it gets here I will do a close inspection and product review and post some good closeups of all the detail. After that, if I think that this model is something that I want to RC, I will then order the fittings kit and then finally the Subdriver itself. I will be working on this at the same time as I get back into the Skydiver of UFO fame. Stay Tuned ya shwabes!

We can double team this project! I have the Skipjack sitting on my desk begging to be worked on it.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Its kinda a brownish grey in color. Details are great but you could probably sharpen them up just a little with a small file ground to a sharp point. Daves detailing looks extra good. The hull only is about 2" longer than the hull on my Albacore. Now the next step will be to order the fittings kit.

Also included are decals for all the Skipjack boats and a color layout of items of interest on the hull. A good description of the colors of various parts and some photo etched parts as well.

Rose and me working up the kits art word that would later render PE and decals.

And it was Roger Williams (who had done a WIP who came up with the key shot of a submarines S5W MSW gratings that guided me as I did the art-work for the MSW suction and discharge gratings. I think it was the second test-shot from Moebius that drove me to render detailed orthographic and isometric drawings of the two scopes and some other details -- the parts on the test shot trees were just not up to snuff.

Mine arrived last week, I decided to get as much as I could first up, fittings kit, servos, ballast set and obviously the sub. And what a beautiful model it is too!!! I kicked mine off on the weekend but I'll start up my own thread so as not to hijack Marks thread.
                    Cheers,
                    Alec.

This will be great to have a variety of builds going on at once!

Just talked to John at Caswells. Hes a great guy. Anyway, he tells me my fittings kit is on the way. He also says hes got a couple of Sub-Drivers for it in stock. Gotta make a couple of payments on the old credit card first, then we will have room on it to squeeze in a Sub-Driver. Im excited to own an SAS! Cool idea.

GOT FITTINGS KIT? I got mine today. A few pictures of what I call "High Value" parts. The effort and time for me to produce these parts would be enormous. They are very High Quality!
