    No, is a 650 CC normal one. It's an optical effect cause the deck is nearer to the camera and a little bit unfocussed. The ENGEL tank is the one fitted for my AKULA II.

    I reinforced mine with plastic beams below and had no structural problems with it. regarding air or water trapped under deck, there wasn't any problem at all with water when diving; you can see some tension with it when surfacing. And with air, the main problem is the bubble trapped under deck's rearmost part, where there aren't any slot. Click image for larger version

    I actually sanded the underside of the VII deck smooth, removing everything but the overlaps then sprayed a smooth coat of 2K. My feeling was that if there was nothing there to catch and trap bubbles, so much the better.

    Yeah. Been there, done that... The thing is styrene is a oil derivative as is petrolium jelly. Drop a piece of spur into a cup of petrol... Pretty soon no sprue. Though not as quick or radical the jelly will do something similar as it morphs with the styrene. As David said YUCK!!

    How about applying a surfactant to the underside of the deck to break up the water tension, like a detergent.

    Or maybe even some petroleum jelly.

    It will vent air ..... ONCE!

    But, all subsequent dives attempts with a wet deck the air will not be able to escape the superstructure. Water surface tension will bridge those long, narrow slots with water and the deck won't vent through the slots when you flood the SD.

    Therefore, you are compelled to open up big (no smaller than 1/8" diameter) holes in the deck to vent the hull adequately.

    Water won't scale for you -- there's an apparent viscosity increase with reduction of model size. Hello, Doctor Reynolds!
