1/96 Project 1710 Beluga

This is getting to be all about the Delta and not much about the Beluga.

Today's efforts.

So this is what happens when you set out to build a Beluga - it becomes a Delta III. Not much actual evidence here of a Beluga yet but I hae been working on the appendages and some preliminary bits and pieces. (Also working through a Honey do list that seems to be getting longer rather than shorter). Meanwhile the Delta continues.

Pressing on with the Delta III. Once this is in the water I'll get serious about the Beluga. One boat at time seems like the best policy.

This actually about the Beluga. Suprise!

I made the bow planes some time ago but since then there has been some talk of articulated planes. So this is a design for a simple drag hinge system.



These are the bits

I discovered along the way that geometry is rather important. The actuating rod has to be closer to the axis of the planes shaft than the hinge point of the rear (articulated) part of the plane or the whole thing will flap in the wrong direction.

I feel I will never be in a cooee range of being as skilled as you are! That is a wonderful piece of engineering there.

I took the big boys out for a run yesterday. Now the Delta III is (mostly) finished I can get on with the Beluga.

Nice work Scott, I like the additional fins on the DIII, she stands out this way.

The Becker Flap dive plane is spot on sir.

Thanks. I've been away for a while - now catching up. The Beluga is naging away at me and I will ahve to get started on the hull soon. Do you have any picturtes of the rear end showing the bollards that seem to be located in recessed pockets? It might be a detail too far but I'd like to know what I'm deleting before I delete it.

Ouch........what are you talking about........I do have feelings.........if it's detail related........nothing is worth deleting !!!!!

Now you have to make them working with your "reversed lever float system" :-).

Sorry Scott I don't agree......there is no rear hatch it's a capstan.....all hatches Buoys are located fwd painted red or pronounced (don’t know the exact wording here) outlined in withe.
Where there are bolders there is a capstan….on her bow your drawings show two hatches just fwd of the bolders, trust me there is a capstan/sheeve in between the hatches and it's not marked on your drawings.
