You can see here that Ive got some areas to address where the nose pieces attach to the fuselage. Thats to be expected. Caswell is out of Evercoat Easy Sand at the moment but they will have some on the way in a couple of days. Thats the perfect stuff to do this blending and tapering work. Ill never be at this point in time again so I might as well do a good job on her. Ill thank myself down the road.

I received my tube that I ordered. Its a thin wall tube thats just slightly too big. We will make it work as you probably surmised.

With rocket pod tube in hand, lets see how long the individual tubes need to be for everything to work out. Seems that about 3&1/2" will work great.Click image for larger version

I know you probably already know but those engines should sit right down into the interface part :)

You mean that they should be flush with the back side of the forward bulkhead? Also that the ribbed exhaust nozzle should be completely inside the tube, with no ribs showing?

Yep thats right and the tube should go all the way to the end as well.

The end of the tubes should be inline with the end of Sky1 to match up with Diver. Interestingly the Large sky1 that I made a replica of had shorter tubes, but then it was never used on the front of a diver. My replica has longer tubes inline with the back end.

And this is the original, I suppose they ran out of tube and thought in 40+ years no one would notice. :)

Got my tube yesterday. Ill get them cut and sanded down today, maybe even get some filler on the front and start trying to blend it in. According to my new measurements the tubes should be cut at 4 and 7/8" to 5" long. My plan is to use a core bit to cut some blue foam at 13/16" in dia. to insert inside the tube. This because I plan to attach them to the wings with 2 screws thru from the top of the wing. If water gets in thru the screw openings, it could be undesirable.

Got the missile ends on and tubes cut and sanded. Here you can see the filler on. Ill sand it down tomorrow and probably have to put some more on in spots. You know how it is. Im trying to contour the thing so that it doesnt show that the pipe is too big. SSHHHHHH!!!
