Here is an update on some recent work.

The strips have been cohesived together and shaped, ready for epoxy

From McMaster&Carr I got this. A Stainless screwwith an undercut head. 6-32 sized. With that head its good for thin sections. This is a captive nut of the broach style. Its also for installing in thin sections.

I am trying to determine what these things are that hang down from the belly of the submarine in these pictures from the technical manual. You can see them in the various views but they are not marked. Im not going to put them on because they will cause unnecessary drag but im just curious.

Just noting some differences from actual pictures in the series and the technical drawings. Here it shows a smooth fairing of the engine pods where they join the hull as opposed to the screen shots where it shows a substantial space. I think that I will go with the screen shot.

A CURVED FORWARD SECTION THAT I DONT SEE IN THE ACTUAL MODELS. This picture shows a grill work inside the air intake. A screen intake on the bottom of Sky.The four openings on the sides get canted grill work

Oh yes, and one other item. This picture shows a curved brige.While the model shows it as flat. And finally, my worst nightmare. Cutting the grooves in these corner pieces!

Havent got a whole lot done. Just been filing out a few holes here and there.

I got the shelves epoxied in place this weekend. At this point I realized that cutting out the center section is both good and bad. Good in that it gives you access to the insides of your model. Bad in that the deck then distorts. It doesnt have enough section to maintain its shape. So instead of using catches in the front and 2 screws in the back to hold it down , Ill have to use 4 screws, one in each corner to keep it pulled down flat.

I never got around to showing the cockpit canopy. You have to draw in your own lines and cut it. Then put the clear inside. Ill probably leave the clear off.
Also Mamas sent me a paint sample to use to match colors.

The correct color for SkyDiver/Sky-1 original studio miniatures is "Ford Oyster Gold Metallic", Euro color but it can be mixed by your auto paint supply with this code: PPG #C 24567, in use from 1963 to 81, Mamas is a close friend of mine & he uses Champagne Metallic (Tamiya makes a rattle-can) be sure to weather your model properly & add the alternate colored panels.
Also don't use the UFO technical manual for detailed building reference, a great, fun book but highly inaccurate.
