Time for an update to the update. The Bridge/sail unit needed some attention. The bottom edge where it joins the hull was not straight. Heres what I did. I took a pine 2x4 that a straight edge revealed was flat lengthways. It was then nailed down to the table. Since the straight edge revealed that it had a crown in it crossways, I took a belt sander and flattened it out. Then I took 60 grit sandpaper and glued it down to it. With a back and forth sanding motion I took it down till I had a good flatClick image for larger version

Next was the open bridge. It was way too shallow. To scale, if you were standing on it and leaned over, you would bang your shin bone. He's on his favorite So it had to go. I will construct a new, properly sized one soon. I then cut out the bottom to it A LA Dremel.Click image for larger version

ID:	60497While were at it, the technical plans showed a Chevrolet bowtie shaped area that was called a TV camera platform. Anyway I marked it out in pencil and then cut out the sonar/radar antenna blister and test fit it. It will be attached and then puttied around and sanded.

The next step would be to cut the opening in the hull. It was carefully marked out and cut with a careful, steady , patient hand with my Dremel with a 90 degree head and large diamond blade. It was like cutting hot butter. Here you can see the heavy weights I used to hold it from moving. Also the view of the sail is to show the space underneath caused by the dap out being too wide. Ill have to fill it in a little bit.Click image for larger version

ID:	60562 Here are the rest of the pictures showing this operation. The handsome Gent you see here is none other than yours truly demonstrating the cutting technique. Notice carefully the grim look of determination! The body language of one with a dedicated , no nonsense approach. If your going to make an omelet , youve got to break some eggs. Stop looking at it and go ahead and GEET ER DUN MAN!!!

Ok, the next step in this circus sideshow is attaching the plastic strips to support the section that I just cut out and to hold it flush. Problem: The deck and cutout vary in thickness. So Ill need to Dremel it down in the affected areas to roughly the same thickness before attaching them................Stay tuned!

Hey! What happened to the other picture. Oh, there it is. These are excellent screen shots that I got from a friend Byron (Collins Class). Most screen shots that you do yourself from your computer are kind of fuzzy. These are great. Must be some advanced software.Click image for larger version
