    Hey, you trouble-maker, you!

Almost. It's a special fittings kit I'm working up for John Slater -- it is part of a complete kit that will compete against the old SubTech 1/60 ALBACORE, our initial kit offering representing a proper looking phase-2 version. I've been working to produce the Caswell-Merriman kit masters all year. The kit will feature a proper GRP hull; resin sail and appendages; metal yokes, bell-cranks, and detail parts.

Making the tail-cone a separate item makes it easier for me to produce the other phase configurations of this boat later.

Intricate stuff. Looks like the turtle back will be of the proper shape(walls straight up and down instead of sloped).

Rick, I take it then that you have a 1/96 D&E Skipjack? Amongst others? Did you ever get your Proteus to operate as you wanted? The last time we talked you said it was giving you a time.

            Yes and yes
I have started on a smaller Proteus ( 20 inches compared too the 36 inch back breaker) after toying with the lunar models kit , I wanted somthing a little bigger than the 16 incher.

Dave , I learn more from your photos everytime I look at them.
No one can dispute your skill and attention too detail.
The planning you put into the vent and pour channels and indexing keys is awsome.
                  We are not worthy.
Even when worlds collide , you are the extra fuel I need too be a better modeller.

Hey! ... you 'r a poet and don't know it. Love that movie -- the producer worked so hard to weave the story around the realities of rocketry as the state of the art existed in the early 50's. Much as he did with Destination Moon and The Conquest Of Space.

Yeah, the pictures I post to this thread are there as conversation starters. If need be. But, as you observed Rick, they also convey a lot of useful information all by themselves. Believe me, my knowledge of tool making has been a long, expensive, and aggravating acquisition. But, I dare say, I'm one of the best tool-makers out there today as a result of over forty-years of the activity.

Just passing on what I learned from others. My obligation to those who came before me.

There are no secrets. Only fools who think there are.

From one old patternmaker to another, I applaud you, Master!!

Anyone not at all knowledgeable in the patternmaking/R&D process can't imagine all of the
blood, sweat and tears resulting from such a process!! It sure ain't for the "tinkerer"!!

Hats off to ya, M!! You are "Da Man"!!
