Old Robbe U-31 (Class 212) kit or completed wanted

    Hi guys,

Anyone have an old 1/40th scale Robbe U-31 (Class 212) kit or, completed model they are willing to part with?
If you do lets discuss it :-)

    Regards,

Is there any particular preference for a 212? Only I can think of other alternatives that will give equal or better performance without the Easter egg hunt.

      Hi Subculture,

I thought the Robbe 212 was a cool sub with it being 1/40th scale and the Engel piston system. I am also trolling for an Engel 1/100 scale Lafayette boomer. The patriot in me says 'build American'. The Lafayette uses the piston tank, too. You know anyone with a Lafayette they would part with?

I don't know of anyone selling a Lafayette.

It's a good boat, and rock solid so long as it's put together well. The only thing I would say is the handling is so predictable it can get a little dull- I prefer something a bit more squirrely with a shorter aspect.

Have you looked at the Maximus range. They do a nice 212 at a smaller 1/72 scale, alongside a nice 1/96 Skipjack. Both use piston tank ballast systems and come in lower in cost.

I found a Lafayette. I hope it is 'rock solid' as you say. I could use a success story.

If it's a secondhand item, then the usual caveats apply. Give it a through inspection, check all the seals, and renew if necessary. Check all your wiring and make a full functional test before committing it to the deep.
