Looking for good methods to attach tire fenders to a tugboat's sides

Good Holidays to All! As stated, I'm looking for different methods to get tires hung off the hull of a Dumas Carol Moran. The tires that came with it are solid, slightly squishy units. Anyone have suggestions? I could CA them, but fear that they would escape while operating!

    TIA,

    Bill

Thanks, gents! I'll come up with something, not too overly complicated or detailed. This thing is a bit of a sow's ear as it is. Take care.

Of course depending on the age and style of tugboat, tires might be held on with ropes or chains... The wax sail Cord is a good rope substitute... The chains can be gotten at craft stores such as Jo-Ann's crafts... Whatever your choice don't forget to grind the tires down on a belt sander-remember a tugboat owner would never pay to hang brand new tires on the side of their boats as fenders.
