    Alternative Depth Controller

Wonder if this can be used to maintain periscope depth instead of using pressure based sensor ?
Make it simple, make strong, make it work!

    Interesting... A few options:

The sonar is a really cool idea. It would have to be UNDER the water and not ABOVE like the video. The sonar would be upward-facing. Not sure what waves would do to that signal, but it feels like overall this could be a decent option.

I don't know how the resistive or capacitive strip boards would work. Perhaps if you are okay only staying at PD, you could use a periscope as the strip mounting surface. Of course, this is only useful if the periscope is at or above the surface...

I’d rather just buy the depth controller that Bob sells and be done with it.
Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.
