Waterproof servo at 600 meters?

Cool. But not sure it would be effective at 100 ATM! Curious if anyone knows a technique that would survive to a depth of 600 meters. I want to build some devices for subsea depths but the commercially available motors for those depths are ridiculously expensive. I'm on a salvage team that will allow me the opportunity to perform a real-life tests at between 300 and 600 meters so if I can build something soon then I will be able to try it out.

Yup, oil is the way to go. Silicon oil is standard for deep-sea applications.

Yup. Example photos here of Dr. Graham Hawkes 'Deep flight' I took at his engineering Co visit decades ago.in Richmond California. The electronics are in oil filled small compartments, so they are - what would the correct term? Pressure neutral? I am not an expert, but David is a former US Navy Diver. I read his response and remembered these photos in my files. Hope they help. Was a special privilege to be invited along n a cold Saturday morning, they thought my interest in model subs I might be interested. lol.









Dr. Graham Hawkes, who as late as 2007, he held the world solo dive record of 910 meters (2,990 ft)^[ in his submarine Deep Rover. Betting is own life on his engineering - it works.
