    Vent valve repair

The flapper valve separated from it's resin base. Is it okey to use RTV silicone or CA? Click image for larger version

Yesterday I used Selleys All Clear Co polymer sealant to seal the gaps between the screws securing the ballast tank bulkheads an other potential leak points. After the sealant cured I was reading the literature behind the tube when I noticed it said HIGHLY FLAMMABLE. Turns out Selleys All Clear isn't silicone, it'a a co polymer containing, naptha, Cyclohexane which may possibly harm polystyrene and polycarbonate. Click image for larger version

Today, checked on the SD, I took off some of cured sealant to check the status of the polycarbonate. So far I can see no damage. No cracking or crazing.

Always remember, Read the label first or check before using. I was lucky.

RTV silicone will work well. The stiffer RTV gasket maker stuff works better.
