    Seawolf/Seaview SubDriver motors

Can anyone quickly tell me if the motors in the small Seawolf and Seaview SubDrivers will take 11v, or if I'll fry them. I want to step up the juice from 7.2 for more oomph! Oh, and I just happen to have the right size LiPo's here rather than having to wait on new battery packs...

    Thanks!

Won't what? Fry or take 11 volts?
Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!

Thanks, Mike. Yeah .... my flip response could be read both ways.

Those motors are designed for 4-7 volts. Run them higher, and under a load and they will quickly burn out.

That'd be awesome.. the Seaview raising a huge plume of water off her bow, smoke billowing out behind her..

Ok.. maybe not. Point taken. ******. My new batteries won't be here until Friday, then I leave for two weeks to Italy. Sigh.

                David,
The Gato Sub Driver does take 11v, but the Seaview does not? help me understand the reason, was it because of the pump-jet efficiency?
                Peace,
                Tom
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Battery size, both physical layout, voltage and capacity -- at the time I designed those SD's, the currently available Lithium-polymer batteries -- drove motor selection. Now, some four years later, there are more choices.

The smaller SD's get the 7-volt motors, the bigger SD's get the 11-12 volt motors. The cart got ahead of the horse as to motor voltage selection. Simple as that. And that's the ugly truth.

What are the specs on the motors in the seaview sd. It looks like I may have to replace one of them... :( Also it would be handy to get some spares...
                      Cheers,
                      Alec.
