I was looking the picture Davidh posted of the Borei and Typhoon and was wondering if the bow is different on this typhoon?
It looks different on the bow side tubes like it is indented.

It is not sure what you mean Scott.

I give it a shot anyway
This is the TK-208 Dmitri Donskoi
She was the lead submarine in the Typhoon class , first built, she was modified to Project 941U and later to Project 941UM to serve as a test-bed for the Bulava SLBM used on the Borei SSBNs.

She is the only one that has 12 decoy launchers like those on the later Akula class subs. They are arranged in a semi-circle around the torpedo tube muzzle doors.
She is the only submarine of her class that havethree towed sonar arrays, two in the tail below the waterline and one atop the rudder.

In the below pictues you can see her bow without the snow and by daylight (no dents) and the top rudder towed array.

    Grtz,
    Bart

I whant to trow something....why they don't show up big? Will try with an external picture manager now

External picture manager works......will edit my first post now to rectify this mess.

Ok did some tests.......FULLSIZE does not work for me anymore...now I need to use LARGE.....I try to comprehend but I fail....spent 30 minutes to try to post some pictures who will show up.

Thanks. I think in the snow covered picture the darker areas below the retracted bow planes made my mind see a curve that is not there.
          Thanks for the picture presentation.
