Some alternatives I have seen involve a the use of round heavy duty cardboard used for concrete pillar form work. These work well, so no doubt yours of similar material and treated correctly will do the same.

I looked at those cylinders, but most of them were too thick and the resin wouldn't soak in well enough, unlike the tri-wall cardboard. They also roll around, unlike a rectangular box, and David M insists these boxes need vents in them, which would be difficult to do with a cylinder.

I am getting the batch made with these holes stamped out.
