More vid as requested. i just wish I was driving better. I was all upset about the trim being off, and I kept not driving well.
BUT you can clearly see it go all the way to the bottom on one pass. And at this end its 5 ft deep. So thats cool !!

Wow, nice! Great job and the trim is a minor hurdle now. All adjustments you do from this point forward should make things run better and better (in theory)!
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

ya, well I took out some foam because the stern was floating high when submerged. The Dorsal rudder would stick up. I didnt bother to think that "hey the gas tank is empty" because I blew the line and was waiting for a new one to come in. So ya, I pooched the trim and I have to kinda start over with what I had had correct. No worries though.

Nah, she has like three, and I didnt completly kill the one I used. LoL nothing a few seconds on the belt sander wont fix anyway.

BUUUUUT this AM I got the sub in the pool. Dorsal rudder loosened up a touch. CRAP! ok no problem.

The Foam I added Yesterday was just a hair to much. Ok. Out of the pool, deploy knife, trim 1/4 inch off block of foam. Aaaaaannnnnd. . . . . TA-DA !!! now its to low. CRAP !!! LoL

Take it out of the pool, . . . and theres water in the engine compartment again. just a thimble full. but water none the less.

OK fine. Im taking the sub home for a few days. Trim and water sealing.

Thing is I spend a bit of time yesterday (while batteries were trickle charging for my controller) and redid all the old sylicone around all the aft fittings. Because I kept getting a drop or two of water in the aft WTC. Well fine. Ill take it home and pay attention to it. I will find that leak. Oh yes I will. Right now I suspect the main shaft. I put some oil in it one day and I think I diluted the grease. So Ive probably got to pull the motor and the shaft and re-grease the whole thing.

ahh what a fun activity Ive gotten myself into ! LoL.

Do you have a air fitting on your WTC that you can remove the valve core from and put an air hose onto and blow? Or if you have a automotive vacuum pump you can draw a vacuum on the same air fitting.

It is not a boring hobby!
The best thing, for me, was to tear apart every inch of the WTC. You learn more about it, but you also get comfortable with how everything works. When I first started everything was a big deal, so it seemed, but now not as much (unless the sub disappears for awhile). When something goes wrong mechanically, there is not this panic like there was in the beginning because I usually can figure what the issue is or where to look at least.. So, you are doing great and look forward to your next report.
                Peace,
                tom

Model airplanes and boats are the simplest of things to make work via r/c. Cars and other two-dimensional traveling creatures are boring to drive afteer a few hours of enjoyement. R/c model submarines is the game that never gets boring or quickly reduces your model to a pile of broken parts (as helicopters do).

Ive had more than one submarine almost become permanent guests of Davy Jones.

Yeah. Sitting on the bottom, safe and sound, in secure deep storage. Just waiting for pick-up. And it sits there IN ONE PIECE!!!! Mask and flipper time.

Ya fortunatly Im playing (sailing) in a pool, thats heated to 78 degrees. So other than getting wet, its not even uncomfortable to go get it. Im just crying to release the pressure in my tear ducts. Ya know, from holding back for so long.

So now its just a matter of getting the cg straight, the trim proper and setting those dam set screws so they quick backing out all the time.

Is it normal for the sub to change trim when you empty and fill the Gas chamber? Mine seems to change trim by about an inch in the aft section depending on if the tank is full or empty.

OH and I thought about it, I put about 2 inches more brass rod into the main shaft when I repaired it. So that Im sure changed the trim aft dramatically.

The typical WTC-3 on-board gas bottle holds about an ounce of Propellant, so that's your operational variable, Cecil.
