    Movies i have watched

Gents, I recently watched a DVD called USS Poseidon: Phantom Below. Has anyone seen it? I took these stills from it. They used a Los Angelos class boat as the main character. Ill post more on the storyline later. First I will post the Screen shots.

And you'll see what Richard Widmark does with the line, "... I don't like that!"

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

(and they want to put female types on the boats today?!!!! Those idiots should see this movie and reconsider)

Does anyone remember "Ice Station Zebra"? Last time I saw it was probably 20 or more years ago. It stars Rock Hudson. I watched it last night on DVD. The color photography of the USS Ronquil(on loan from the US Navy for the film)was really good. The undersea photography(mostly) was with a model that roughly approximated the shape of the Nautilus(571). Really good scenes with the subs. Click image for larger version

Ahhh!! Richard Widmark!! One of the original "bad-asses"!!!!

Lee Marvin, too, although I don't recall him ever doing a sub "flick", but, "The Dirty Dozen"
              was great!!!!

              Seriously classic movies here, gents!!

And, howzabout "Run Silent, Run Deep"??
Hollywood just don't seem to get it, nowadays!!

But, "The Hunt For Red October" was pretty cool!!

How about "Up Periscope" staring James Garner. Dont forget "Down Periscope" staring Kelsey Grammer(Dr. Frasier) Nice views of the Seawolf at the end of the movie. Plenty of Fleetboat action and a Los Angelos class as well.

                  shrunk her shirt!! Yeah, Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My favourite is Hunt For Red October....just wished they'd followed the book 100% - good film that could have been better. My wife bought me a first Edition Hard Cover - its treasured. Its a ripping yarn that you can't put down, even if you know the plot.

I think Regan at some stage was quoted as saying that it was his favourite Novel.

Pretty much the same work done for Red October -- designed and build all the propeller masters. Additionally, for Crimson Tide, I helped design the AKULA and provided the dope from which they built the torpedo miniatures. And gave some pointers on submarine choreography on both flicks.

Not a movie but related, I enjoyed watching all 6 episodes of Wolfgang Pettersen's Das Boot Documentary. Highly recommended for anyone who's a fan of the movie & interested in seeing how it was made.
