In the movie the machine purportedly shrinks matter down infinitesimally in a finite amount of time -1 hour before the effect wear off. No mention of enlarging powers.

Does that mean the 10cc glass syringe used was a custom made giant?

Great classic film.

Arthur C Clarke was reportedly to have really liked it too.

Azimov credited to have written it hated it. lol.

The main problem was the continuity issue, The Proteus is destroyed in the film, eaten by a White Blood cell protecting the body from foreign enemies. But regardless, when the 60 minutes expires, Dr Benish (the patient) would have been killed by the atoms of the submarine still in his brain returning back to normal size too. We all got subs on the brain but geeeze! It's been a point of contention about the movie.

But still a great yarn. in 1966, films were so different than now. Everything now is dark and depressing. I hate most present films.

But in1966, space race optimism, science was filled with so many possibilities. Not surprisingly the same year (1966) having a great sense of timing & luck Lucy Ball head producer at Desilu took a gamble financing 'Star Trek'. All the new Color TV's were filling hpmes,' TV film sets in the studios all designed to promote COLOR. Technicolor and the psychedelic 60's era.

When the later film 'Finding Nemo' was released, it was such a welcome shock to the senses with just pleasant vivid colors..

Sadly, now I go in for my Dr checkups & tell the nurses checking my blood pressure & oxygen levels with digital devices scarcely dreamed of in 1966 on several occasions about this film, and they NEVER HEARD of Fantastic Voyage.
