These prices seem crazy given the stated condition except for the Sea Wolf.

Seems like mad money when you can pick up new subs with higher spec and good scale fidelity for similar money.Comment

Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.Comment

From what I've seen of a lot of these secondhand Neptunes, a lot of hardware and electronics are shot and often need replacing along with the battery, not what I consider ready to run, unless RTR means "ready to refurbish". A brand new 212 from Engel is 995 euro, add on radio and batteries, maybe a couple hundred euro extra for a basic rig.

Brand new Delphin kit from Norbert Bruggen 148 euro add on the extra couple of hundred euro for electronics, 348 euro. Superb performing boat too.

A Delta kit from the same company is 385 euro, much more advanced than the Delphin but you'd still be well under a $1000 if you shop wisely for electronics.

Then there are the R&R conversion sets.

Any of these will require a bit of construction work on behalf of the builder, but it's not like some of the kits of old where you got a hull and a few sheets of plastic and a plan. You get cnc cut parts that go together like a Lego kit.Comment

None of those subs referenced are RTR. Big difference between an economy kit and a fully assembled ready to run sub. The Thundertiger boats are (were) that. Honestly, at their initial pricing which was around $600 if I recall, it was way undervalued for how they were engineered. $1000 is reasonable, in my opinion. The Seawolves I got are upgraded versions of those boats. I picked them up for around $1300 each. A bit of work will see them wireless and worth every penny.Comment
