Messenger Bouy Cable Run; USS SKATE Class

Anyone got an illustration or pictures of how the subject cables ran from bouys to hatches, and what the hatch bail looked like at each hatch? I know there were different ways of attaching the cables to the hatches?
    Thanks for any help!

What are you, some kind of rivet-counting nut-job??? You won't see me diving into those weeds, pal! (I'll check the files, maybe I have a TAB page that might help you with this little slice of insanity). Chew on this 1/72 SKIPJACK till I find something more SKATE like.

The cable reel hatches adjacent to both messenger buoys are illustrated on the attached drawing. (Had to downsize the file since the original is too large for this site.)

The photo of the bow shows the cable run to the bale.

Yes, thanks, I found that same picture. The tricky one is back aft. CC, the drawing didn't attach. There is a picture, though. I have the Booklet of General Drawings for USS SARGO SSN-583 to use. These cables will be the last of the upper hull detailing I'll do, besides weathering.

David- I'll modify what appears in the Scrapjack picture. It's close enough! My Narwhal and Trepang experience will help there, too. Thanks, guys!!

And another - this would be good for getting the superstructure angles correct. Both drawings are half-size from my originals, due to image size restrictions on this site.

More Message Buoy drawings. I saw this in my library and remembered the earlier posts here. These illustrations apply to all USN Message Buoys in general. illustrations drawn from Gerneral plans by Jim Christley. Subcommittee Report June 1997 Issue 29

                OoooooooAhhhhhh!
Kinda off-topic but what scale is your Skate Class boat? Someone needs to make a hull or 3D files for that class.

                  SubSteve,

That has been a subject of debate! It measures 64 1/2 "overall. So, somewhere around 1:43 scale? For sure it's not 1:48, but it is close. The engraving work is very good but could be better. That is due to the drawing that was used had some shortcuts taken when it was drawn and approved by the USN.
