    Oberon Class Capstan Availability?

Anyone know of a source for a 1:48 scale Oberon capstan warping drum, either 3D, or cast urethane, that I could buy? The open stave design of the thing and lack of dimensional info is keeping me from making one myself. It was not retractable, so it should be in place on deck for a proper looking vessel. Thanks!!

The capstan winding barrel shows as about 14mm by 10mm on Ted Scriven's 1/48 scale Oberon plans.

Make it simple, make strong, make it work!

The first drawing was clearly very simplified. The part is clearly more detailed but would really need some better pics to produce something that wasn't at best stand-off scale.

Don't let AMBS be the enemy of a completed project.

It's a ****ing capstan -- something you can turn on a Dremel moto-tool. Don't obsess on the damned thing. Stick a pin in it and move on!
