OH! Now I understand. They make good boats by the way.

At 1:72 scale the boat is 5' long, which, to me, seems a more reasonable length.

And a more 'common' scale to boot. A good match for a lengthened GATO SD.

I have some molds for the Surcouf at 1:72nd scale.

So far, I have just one hull finished. I'll get around to dive planes, rudder etc shortly. If someone is keen to get going on a Surcouf, and they are a model maker, then this is a great hull. I have all the plans and loads of photos.

$275.00 gets you the hull and conning tower.

Note there are three hull sections. The two on the left can be joined together to make a complete boat, then cut to suit. Or, the right hand section allows the two hull to be cut along the waterline, and this top section is already made for you.

For props, I have deduced the Raboesch models are the same as for the British MBD T & S class

              R176-03 1.4 3/16 3 blade R/hand 10000 rpm $16.00
              R176-04 1.4 3/16 3 blade L/hand

Has anyone noticed that the starboard prop is set for'ard of the port prop?

Heres a model by Paul Drake. In one view it is being attacked by a model of a Short Sunderlin.

Nice photos I've not seen before. Like every other cruiser sub before it, I always felt it was better suited for marine reviews than actual operational use but still an interesting subject.

OTW has come out with an 87" long model of the Surcouf. On the cover and inside are pictures and a story behind Ken Griffins build of it. Here are a few pictures that I ..............squeezed out of the Dec. issue of the SCR.
