It came with the boat. It’s an example of the Harbor Models smoke generator. Works well and is connected to the engine to regulate how much is put out.
Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.

Is that the boat you bought from Bob?

Is it a 12 volt unit or a 6 volt unit?

Both units are claimed to draw about an amp. What I witnessed with the 6volt unit I have is a 1.3 amp draw. Using ohm’s law that would mean the coil should have around 4.6 ohms of resistance and produced around 7.8 watts at the coil.

If we used the same 1.3amp draw for the 12volt unit. Then the coil resistance should be around 9.2 ohms and produce a wattage of 15.6.

Much more heating/vapor potential for the 12v unit if the amp draw is theoretically similar.

Here’s a quick and dirty smoke generator I built about 30 minutes ago. It uses a $3 replacement coil from an e-cigarette. The coil has 1.8ohm resistance and is being run on 3.7 volts. It pulls about 1.8 amps on the power supply. Using 100% vegetable glycerin as the smoke fluid. Short video link below.

It looks pretty effective to me. What are you using to move the air?

Yes sir. Gutted everything and added new motor, sound, lights and rc.

Thanks Bob. The black smoke would be interesting to pull off. Will have to think about how it might be achieved using vegetable glycerin and still be non toxic and not a mess either. Will have to think about that.

In the video I was just blowing through the silicone tube that enters the medicine bottle chamber below the e-cig coil. Prior to taking the video I used one of the larger LPB pumps that Bob sells on his website with great results too running on about 7.4 volts. What’s interesting with this coil is, the higher the air flow the more smoke that was generated.

That’s a nice boat. Always like the bunker boats or also called Menhaden steamers. Is your HM smoke unit a 12 or 6 volt unit? Dave the old owner of HM used to be one of my distributors before I retired and eventually years later he did too. New owner seems like a nice guy.

12v. I just replaced the batteries as one of them blew a cover. I got 4 Duracell 6 v to give it plenty of amps. I also made up a DF and VHF/UHF antennas. I took over the dining room table when I gutted her. My wife then made me take over an empty bedroom for my work area.
